About

Where there is a will, there is a way

I’m Keyira Jones, LCSW, and I come to this work as both a clinician and a mother. Both avenues of caregiving have strengthened my belief that emotional safety, compassion, and nervous system support are not luxuries—they are essential, especially in the early years and during times of overwhelm. While I have always been a lifelong student of social-emotional learning, my undergraduate background is in applied psychology, with additional training in sociology and minority studies, which continues to inform my work today. I take a compassionate, exploratory approach to therapy and value diverse worldviews, identities, and lived experiences. I believe that compassion—toward ourselves and toward one another—is the foundation of meaningful and lasting change. Before becoming a therapist, I spent several years at the University of Chicago working in social and behavioral research within the Department of Biological Sciences- Infectious Disease. My work focused on community engagement, health education, linkage to care and prevention/outreach, particularly with marginalized or incarcerated populations. Through this experience, I saw firsthand how social conditions, chronic stress, and lack of support shape emotional and physical health across the lifespan. This work ultimately led me to pursue social work and earn my Master’s degree in Social Service Administration, with an administrative concentration yet clinical focus. In my clinical work today, I integrate all I learned regarding trauma informed care, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and social psychology. Additionally I now offer mindfulness-based skill building/coaching, compassion focused care, and implement EMDR-informed principles like supporting adaptive information processing, addressing childhood and developmental trauma, and helping clients understand how past experiences continue to shape present-day emotional and nervous system responses. Therapy with me is informed, collaborative, intentional, and paced. I focus on helping clients build emotional intelligence, emotional regulation, psychological flexibility, and self-trust. My goal is not to “fix” symptoms, but to support integration, insight, and resilience in a way that feels steady and humane. Whether you are navigating complex trauma, anxiety, depression, parenting stress, or long-standing patterns shaped by early relational experiences, therapy is a space where you do not need to perform or have everything figured out. Together, we work toward building safety first—so healing, connection, and meaningful change can follow.
